Changes in Fishing Regulations in Castilla y León

New fishing regulations in Castilla y León affect various provinces, including restrictions on certain fishing methods and the introduction of catch limits. The changes aim to protect local fish populations and enhance the fishing experience for enthusiasts.

In Castilla y León, the trout fishing season started on Saturday, March 29, with some modifications to fishing regulations in different provinces. For example, in León, the Ciudad de León fishing reserve was eliminated. In Ávila, the sports-social area Las Cogotas and the waters under special controlled regime in Candeleda were removed, among other changes.

In Salamanca and Segovia, the number of fishing days in certain reserves was reduced, while in Burgos, changes were implemented in the waters under special regime. In Soria, the fishing plan in the Ucero and Sotos reserves was adjusted. In Zamora, the EDS of Villaralbo was divided into three for sports competitions, among other measures adapted to specific reservoirs.

The regulations focused on increasing and unifying the minimum sizes in all trout reserves with catch-and-kill fishing, establishing a maximum of two trout. Certain baits and lures were prohibited, such as those containing more than one hook, worms, live or dead fish, among others. Measures were also established for the protection of species such as Iberian cyprinids.

Regarding catch quotas, it was limited to two specimens of barbs, bogas, bordallo, cacho, madrilla, goby, and tench per angler per day. Within the same season, from May 1 to July 15, a quota of zero specimens for certain species was established. These measures aim to ensure the conservation of fish populations in fishable water bodies.

In general, the fishing season in Castilla y León brings significant changes in regulations and rules to ensure a proper utilization of natural resources, in line with the conservation of fish populations in the region.
