In Villafranca de Córdoba, a yellow level has been declared due to the rise in the Cuzna River, which flows into the Guadalmellato reservoir. Flooding has been experienced in rivers and streams throughout Monday due to the discharges from the reservoirs in the jurisdiction of the Guadalquivir Hydrographic Confederation and the recorded rain, which will continue during the night.
The red level indicates a very dangerous hydrological situation, with a risk of flooding in populated areas and the interruption of major roads. Dozens of homes in Guadalvalle, La Altea, Ribera Baja, Camino de Carbonell, and the Molino Ciego settlement have been evacuated. The course of the Guadalquivir River in Córdoba and the Valchillón have reached critical levels, leading to evacuation measures being taken.
The City Council has offered accommodations in hotels for the affected families. The Local Police remain vigilant in risk areas and are prepared to order additional evacuations if necessary. The yellow level from Aemet will remain until 6:00 AM on Tuesday.
A level 1 Local Emergency has been declared in areas prone to flooding, such as Ribera Baja de Alcolea, Camino de la Barca, Guadalvalle, La Altea, and the Molino del Ciego settlement in the Arroyo Pedroche, with an evacuation order for residents in those areas.
The advisory committee of the Local Emergency Plan of Córdoba, chaired by Mayor José María Bellido, has taken urgent measures in response to the situation. Homes have been evacuated, evacuation points have been established, and safety and prevention measures have been implemented. The Local Police and other agencies remain alert and ready to act as the situation evolves.
