Córdoba's Municipality Fights Hate Speech

In Córdoba, leaders of Hacemos Córdoba emphasize the urgency to combat hate speech and promote tolerance. They call for solidarity among citizens against intolerance, ensuring respect for fundamental rights.

The municipal group Hacemos Córdoba expressed its concern over the emergence of a campaign that they consider transphobic in the urban furniture of the city. Juan Hidalgo and councilor Irene Ruiz carried out a symbolic action to denounce this type of message that directly and cruelly attacks trans individuals.

In this regard, Hidalgo and Ruiz highlighted the importance of the municipal government taking clear and decisive measures to stop the spread of hate speech. They also invited citizens, neighborhood associations, and social groups to join together and not allow hatred to become normalized in society.

In Hidalgo's words, it is essential for everyone to stand against intolerance and defend the values of coexistence, tolerance, and diversity in Córdoba. For her part, Irene Ruiz pointed out that campaigns promoting hate seek to undermine coexistence and foster intolerance, which can lead to violence.

The councilor called on citizens and the political class to oppose these hate speeches that violate the fundamental rights of individuals. Hacemos Córdoba insisted that freedom of expression has limits when fundamental rights are violated or hate is incited, reminding that the advertising ordinance prohibits messages that attack the dignity of individuals.

Finally, Hacemos Córdoba demanded that the city's mayor, José María Bellido, stop ignoring this situation and assume his responsibility for the protection of citizens' rights. They denounced the lack of action by the City Council in the face of a campaign that they believe violates the rights of a particularly vulnerable group.
