According to the State Meteorological Agency, summer in Andalusia is expected to be warmer than usual. Although it is still early for an accurate forecast, June, July, and August are predicted to have a temperature anomaly compared to last year, with an increase of 0.5 to 1 degree.
Historically, July tends to record higher temperatures than August. Despite the abundant rains in March that have moistened the mountains, they have also created conditions favorable for fires, especially towards the end of summer, when heatwaves and tropical nights have dried out the vegetation.
On the other hand, storms have affected the Western Andalusia region, but they have not reached Almeria or nearby areas of Granada and Jaén. Authorities urge the population to take extra precautions due to the risk of fires, as a hot and dry summer is expected in the region.
