The World Happiness Foundation has awarded Granada recognition for its commitment to collective well-being, sustainability, and inclusive policies that prioritize the quality of life of its inhabitants. This recognition highlights communities that integrate values such as compassion, gratitude, discovery, and connection in their policies and projects.
Between March 14 and 16, Granada will host the ninth edition of the World Happiness Festival, an event that addresses topics such as mental health, education, and leadership. The city aims to become the permanent host of this congress, which attracts well-being specialists from Europe and America.
The Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Juan Ramón Ferreira, emphasizes the contribution that the congress can make to society to improve the quality of life and promote freedom. Furthermore, Granada has been designated as the World Capital of Happiness in 2025 by the World Happiness Foundation, an unofficial award that has previously been given to cities such as Dubai, Tokyo, and San Francisco.
During the festival, various activities related to mental health, education, well-being, personal development, art, culture, and gastronomy will take place, aiming to flood the city with happiness during those days. Prominent figures like Greta Thunberg, Vandana Shiva, Harvard Professor Robert Waldinger, among others, have participated in similar events in the past and are expected to attend this edition in Granada.
