New Andalusian PSOE Executive Elected

The new Andalusian PSOE executive, led by María Jesús Montero, has been elected with 94.5% support at the 15th Regional Congress held in Granada. Key positions stress integration and preparing for upcoming elections.

At the 15th Regional Congress of the Andalusian PSOE held in Armilla (Granada), the new Executive designed by the party's general secretary, María Jesús Montero, has been endorsed. This has the support of 94.5% of the votes from the present delegates, ten percentage points more support compared to the previous leadership led by Juan Espadas in the last congress.

The composition of the Executive includes a variety of secretariats and coordinations covering different areas of interest. María Márquez from Huelva has been designated as Montero's voice in the regional Parliament. She is expected to lead meetings with the Andalusian president, Juanma Moreno, during government oversight sessions.

To ensure integration, Montero has reintroduced Susana Díaz, Manuel Chaves, and José Antonio Griñán as ex officio members of the Steering Committee. The new leadership includes leaders aligned with Díaz, Espadas, and also close collaborators of Montero.

As Montero's number two, María Márquez stands out, taking on the role of deputy general secretary. Francisco Rodríguez García from Dos Hermanas is also highlighted, becoming the new Secretary of Organization. The latter will not have exclusive dedication due to his municipal responsibilities.

The Executive has reduced the number of members to 66, including figures who supported Susana Díaz in the 2021 primaries. Montero has sought the inclusion of diverse profiles to strengthen the party, aiming to prepare for the regional elections of 2026.

The team established by Montero also includes coordinations in areas such as Ecological Transition, Universities, Welfare Policies, Social Movements, Democratic Quality, and Coastal Municipalities. With this structure, the Andalusian PSOE seeks to enhance its opposition work and consolidate its presence in the region.
