The Community of Madrid is in negotiations with several municipalities for the construction of 40 new senior residences, as part of the promises made by President Isabel Díaz Ayuso. These residences will be built in different localities of the region, starting with the Las Rosas neighborhood in San Blas, where the first of these facilities will be constructed.
In addition to the residences, 40 day centers for the elderly and people with disabilities will be included. The goal is to create a new model of smaller, warmer residences to provide a more homely environment for the residents.
Councillor Ana Dávila has sent letters to the mayors of the region requesting land for the construction of these residences, which must meet requirements such as spaciousness, good communication, and access to community resources. This project is presented as the largest residential plan in the history of the community, not only to improve the quality of life for the elderly but also to generate direct jobs and modernize the care network.
Each of the new residences will have 150 residential places and 40 day care spots, with an innovative design that aims to mimic the structure of a home in living units. The planned investment for this project is over 500 million euros and is based on a more residential approach centered on smaller living groups compared to the large-scale residences of the past.
Additionally, other parcels of land from the City Council of Madrid are being monitored for the construction of similar facilities, and land is still being requested from the various municipalities interested in participating in this initiative.
