Pope Francis Addresses World Concerns on Easter

Pope Francis made an appearance on the central balcony of St. Peter's Basilica to give the urbi et orbi blessing to Rome and the world in a message of alert about the contempt for the vulnerable, marginalized, and migrants. Despite his convalescence due to a respiratory condition, the pontiff decided to present himself before the faithful on Easter Sunday, despite medical recommendations for rest.

During the blessing, a master of ceremonies read the Easter message on behalf of the Pope, highlighting Francis's concern about various conflicts in the world, such as the situation in Palestine, Israel, and Ukraine. The dramatic humanitarian situation in Gaza was denounced, and a call was made to cease fire and assist those in need in search of peace.

While the message focused on humility, mercy, and inclusion was being read, the Pope struggled against fatigue, moving his lips as if he were talking to himself. Later, Francis traveled through St. Peter's Square in the Papamobile, greeting and blessing the attendees in a gesture of celebration for Easter.

Before the blessing, the Pope delegated the Easter Mass to an Italian cardinal and received a visit from the Vice President of the United States at his residence in Santa Marta. In a brief meeting with J.D. Vance, there was a noticeable disagreement of opinions regarding the topic of migration, although the papal message was clear in warning against hatred towards migrants, without mentioning specific countries.

After the urbi et orbi blessing, Pope Francis continued his efforts to connect with the faithful, touring the square and dedicating greetings and blessings to those present at the Easter celebration, emphasizing the victory of life over death, truth over lies, and love over hate.
