Edmundo González Urrutia Hospitalized in Madrid

Edmundo González Urrutia, the Venezuelan opposition political leader who is exiled in Spain, has been hospitalized in Madrid due to a sudden episode of low blood pressure. Despite the situation, González Urrutia is stable and has reassured his family and collaborators about his health condition.

González Urrutia expressed in a statement that his responsibility as an elected president requires a swift recovery and that he will follow medical advice to return to his duties as soon as possible. In this regard, he mentioned that the opposition leader María Corina Machado is in charge of the political and organizational process, firmly leading the way towards the change that Venezuela needs.

The 75-year-old leader arrived in Spain last September, where he was granted asylum after running as a candidate in the presidential elections of July 2024, which were won by Nicolás Maduro according to the official results, but questioned due to alleged massive fraud reported by the opposition.

According to sources close to González Urrutia, he was admitted to a public healthcare center the night before and is expected to remain under observation for approximately 24 hours after undergoing medical tests. In his words, he thanked the excellent care provided by the medical and nursing staff during his hospitalization.
