The municipal group of Vox presented this Friday three amendments to the 2026 budget project for the Ayuntamiento de Toledo. These budget modification proposals indicate to the PP (People's Party) the keys to achieving the approval of the third municipal accounts of Carlos Velázquez. 'These are purely technical amendments that transfer budgeted money from one item to another within the same department,' assures the Vox spokesperson in the Ayuntamiento de Toledo. More money for Cáritas and the Food Bank The third proposal focuses on Social Services and aims to strengthen the allocations for direct social care. In their view, Vox's position in this budgetary process allows the PP's government team 'to fulfill commitments with the neighbors.' 'Our intention is for the municipal budget to be approved because it is necessary. In this way, we responsibly and prioritize assistance to those who depend on these services to cover essential needs such as food, shelter, or access to basic supplies,' explains Marín. Thirteen days before the Toledo City Council Plenary session is to debate the approval or rejection of the municipal accounts, which began their processing in the Government Board with Vox's abstention, the PP's government partners in the regional capital recall that their three amendments 'do not imply additional municipal expenditure and respond to the real needs of the people of Toledo' as they favor access to cultural services, improve social care, and promote employment. The group proposes increasing the allocation for social emergencies by 10,000 euros, adding 5,000 euros to the subsidy for Cáritas and another 5,000 euros to the Food Bank, financing these increases by reducing the international cooperation item by 20,000 euros. 'We propose to redirect funds currently allocated to cooperation aid, a line of expenditure whose impact, although valuable, cannot be placed above the obligation of the Ayuntamiento to ensure the well-being and basic care of its own neighbors first. That is why we have presented these three amendments,' states Inés Cañizares, president of this municipal group. To this end, the group proposes to increase the subsidy line for the promotion of Toledo by 10,120 euros and allocate an additional 130,000 euros to economic and employment promotion actions, redirecting items from the same department. According to the group's spokesperson, Juan Marín, the amendments seek 'to look after the interests of the people of Toledo, favor the neighbors' demands, and fulfill commitments, without, in any case, implying an increase in municipal expenditure.' The first of the amendments affects the municipal libraries of Santa Bárbara and Buenavista. In a context of 'a continuous increase in demand for social assistance,' Vox considers it essential that entities such as Cáritas, the Food Bank, and the Ayuntamiento itself, through Social Emergencies, have sufficient resources to assist families and people in situations of vulnerability. Therefore, they propose to fund two part-time library assistant positions, for a total of 30,000 euros, by redirecting funds from the mayoral car leasing. The second amendment, concerning Economic Promotion and Employment, aims to reinforce actions in an area that, in Vox's opinion, 'has insufficient allocation to meet the objectives set for the year.' Vox maintains that 'both spaces operate with insufficient human resources,' which prevents extending opening hours (including morning openings) and limits the organization of cultural activities.
