Miguel Delibes, the famed Spanish writer, opened his Casa in Valladolid’s Palacio Butrón on October 15. The museum showcases manuscripts, awards and correspondence that illustrate his life and career. The opening was attended by the Delibes family and the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, who highlighted the importance of the legacy.
The legacy, comprising more than 165 boxes of manuscripts, periodical articles and personal items, was deposited in the General Archive of Castilla y León. Public access is offered in the Researchers’ Hall, enabling study and research of the author’s work.
Since its inauguration, Casa Delibes has recorded more than 4,731 visits, averaging about a hundred people daily. The museum operates Tuesday through Saturday 10:00‑14:00 and 16:00‑19:00, and Sunday 10:00‑14:00, remaining closed on Mondays.
The exhibition includes recreational and transitional areas that connect the writer’s life with his love for nature. Workshops and activities for children and families, such as the talk “Let’s talk about Miguel Delibes” on December 30 at 12:00, are organized.
The project, promoted by the Junta’s Culture Council, seeks to pay tribute to Delibes’s life and work, turning the museum into a free and accessible tourist resource for all.
“Delibes should belong to everyone and his house must be available to all who love and admire him.” – Henar Díaz, president of the Junta.
