Óscar Puente will continue in his position as Secretary General of the PSOE in Valladolid for the coming years, after it was confirmed that there will be no primaries in the leadership renewal process within the party. Puente, a member of the Municipal Group of Valladolid, assumed the Secretary position at the 17th Provincial Congress scheduled for April 26.
In the absence of other contenders, Puente will not need to collect endorsements, according to the party's Statutes approved at the last congress held in Seville last November. No one else has presented a candidacy to challenge the current party leader in Valladolid.
Óscar Puente, who was the mayor of Valladolid from 2015 to 2023 and later appointed Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility by Pedro Sánchez, will be officially proclaimed as provincial secretary by the Organizing Committee of the Provincial Congress after verifying that his candidacy was the only one submitted within the established timeframe.
At the mentioned Congress, the new Executive Commission that will accompany Puente in the direction of the PSOE of Valladolid will be defined, as well as other appointments to different bodies at the provincial, autonomous, and federal levels.
Óscar Puente, born in Valladolid in 1968, holds a degree in Law from the University of Valladolid (UVa) and has a Master's degree in Political Management from the Jaime Vera Foundation.
