The Counselor for Social Welfare and Family of the Government of Aragón, Carmen Susín, has expressed her bewilderment regarding the lack of information related to the arrival of immigrants to the region. Susín emphasizes that the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy does not provide data on the rotation of people, which complicates the planning and proper attention to the immigrants arriving in Aragón.
Specifically, there are concerns about the destination and assistance provided to immigrants who arrived from flights coming from the Canary Islands during the past Christmas. Despite the official communication about landings in Zaragoza, Aragonese authorities are unclear about the assistance given to these individuals, which represents a barrier to ensuring their comprehensive care.
The regional government has expressed its displeasure over the lack of effective communication between administrations, pointing out that this situation endangers adequate care and inclusion of migrant individuals in the region. In response to this controversy, the Government delegate in Aragón, Fernando Beltrán, clarified that the individuals in question are not present in Aragonese territory.
Carmen Susín has requested explanations from the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy regarding the flights of immigrants and the use of the Zaragoza Air Base, denouncing the lack of communication from the State in these transfer operations. She also recalled an incident that occurred in October in which migrants were scammed with false job offers and were left unprotected when trying to return to the reception program.
In this context, the counselor took the opportunity to mention that Aragón has 977 places available for the care of migrant individuals, which are currently 94% occupied, but she has not detailed the current location of these places nor provided information about specific recent cases of immigrants in the region.
