Villaseca de la Sagra Celebrates Anniversary Fair

The fair starts on August 31 with the anniversary celebration featuring six bullfighting events. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Alfarero de Oro with an additional event and fundraising efforts for local communities affected by the storm.

The fair of Villaseca de la Sagra will begin on Sunday, August 31, with an anniversary celebration that will feature the participation of six Toledo ranches: La Olivilla, Piedra Escrita, Víctor Huertas, Mariano de León, Hermanos Sánchez de León, and Sagrario Moreno.

This year, the fair will exceed expectations by including seven events instead of the usual six in the prestigious Alfarero de Oro competition for novice bullfighters with marked bulls. The Town Hall of the locality, the direct organizer of the fair, announced that 13 bullfights will be held with livestock from various bloodlines such as Cuadri, Montealto, Baltasar Ibán, Ana Romero, José Escolar, Saltillo, Conde de Mayalde, and others already mentioned.

The bullfighting festival held on December 8 has contributed to raising funds to benefit municipalities affected by adversities, such as Algemesí. A large portion of the income generated is allocated to charitable causes, such as the reconstruction of towns affected by natural disasters.

The Alfarero de Oro event will be broadcasted by Castilla-La Mancha Media, and there is a possibility that the regional channel One Toro will join. Tradition dictates that on Monday, September 8, the day of the Virgin of the Anguishes, no bullfights will take place, while the remaining six events will be held from Thursday, September 4, to Wednesday, September 10.

The mayor of Villaseca de la Sagra expressed gratitude for the support received from both the television and the spectators and subscribers of the event. This year's edition, with seven novilladas, is considered an exceptional occasion to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Alfarero de Oro.
