Based on the initially available information, the presence of 37 people on board was registered, including 2 women and one minor, all apparently in good health. During the night, Maritime Rescue carried out rescue operations last Saturday, rescuing over 100 migrant people traveling in three makeshift boats near the coasts of the islands of El Hierro and Gran Canaria.

The rescue boat Acrux was mobilized to attend to the position of a makeshift boat with between 60 and 70 people on board, all of sub-Saharan origin. While the search for this makeshift boat was ongoing, the Civil Guard reported the presence of another radar contact about 20 kilometers from La Restinga, which resulted in the intervention of the rescue boat Adhara to head towards the area.

On Friday night, a makeshift boat with 37 migrant people arrived by its own means at Playa Santiago, in La Gomera, an unusual destination for this type of vessel. Around 9 PM, the boat arrived at the mentioned coast in the municipality of Alajeró.

Shortly before 10 AM, the approach of another makeshift boat was reported 5.5 kilometers from Anfi del Mar, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The rescue boat Macondo was deployed to rescue nearly 40 sub-Saharan people on board, subsequently transporting them to Arguineguín.

In addition, around 10:05 AM, the Civil Guard notified the Maritime Rescue center in Tenerife of the presence of a radar contact, possibly another makeshift boat, 14.8 kilometers off the coast of El Hierro.
