The San Bartolomé fair is held at the 'El Lucero' estate, owned by Alfredo Ruano González in Añover de Tajo, where the breeding of fighting cattle is combined with leisure and party activities, offering gastronomy, music, and small bullfighting in a colorful tent square. The estate experienced flooding that hindered access, particularly affecting the entertainment areas for groups that usually come to celebrate parties at the venue.
Most of the cattle were managed to be evacuated before the flooding, but the young bulls for the events and a horse were evacuated later. The bullfighting without picadors scheduled for Monday the 26th had to be suspended due to the situation at the estate. It is worth noting that a recreational day scheduled for last weekend was also affected.
The rising of the Tajo River, which flows near the estate in the expansive Vega de Añover area, led to the total flooding of the estate to approximately one meter high last Tuesday. 'El Lucero' also has another estate for the breeding of fighting bulls in the municipal term of Aranjuez, close to the main estate.
An aerial view of the affected area clearly shows the impact of the flooding caused by the overflowing of rivers and watercourses in the province. Despite the situation, it is expected that the estate will recover once the waters recede and the damage caused can be assessed.
