Snowstorm Alert in Spain

Heavy snowfall is expected in Spain's mountains and plateaus on Sunday, prompting a Civil Defense alert in eight provinces. Meteorologists predict snow levels to drop to 800-900 meters, potentially causing river levels to rise.

For Sunday's journey, snowfall is expected in the main mountain systems, which may extend to extensive plateau areas of the provinces of Ávila, Burgos, Segovia, and Soria. The passage of this front will also bring rain of variable intensity, which may be locally intense in the northwestern quadrant of the region. Civil Defense has issued an alert in the provinces of Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, and Zamora due to the forecast of adverse weather phenomena from snow and precipitation, starting from 12:00 this Saturday, with an end date to be determined depending on the evolution. So far, only the province of Valladolid would be exempt. From this Saturday, December 20th, a decrease in the snow level is expected, which could be around 800-900 meters in the region, according to Ical. This episode of atmospheric instability can cause a general trend of increased water flow.
