Impending Pension Verification Deadline for Spaniards

Social Security has highlighted the importance of a key procedure to ensure the payment of pensions, reminding beneficiaries that they must complete it before March 31. Those who do not do so may face the suspension of payment until they regularize their situation, which has led to the reactivation of more than 2,900 suspended pensions in the last year due to lack of timely accreditation.

To comply with this requirement, pensioners have several options, such as presenting a certificate of life, completing the accreditation in person or online at designated entities, or using the VIVESS application, which allows completing the procedure from a mobile device with facial recognition and document validation. More than 115,000 pensioners living outside Spain have been instructed to carry out this process.

It is essential for Spanish pensioners abroad to verify their living status before March 31 to avoid payment suspension, as delays could affect the receipt of monthly income. The procedure, managed by the INSS and the ISM, will determine whether beneficiaries meet the requirements to continue receiving the benefit.

Despite the ease provided by the VIVESS application, it is essential to comply with this obligation within the established timeframe to avoid issues with the pension. The Government has urged pensioners to complete this process on time and has committed efforts to ensure that all beneficiaries receive their benefits without setbacks.
