Rescue Operations in Valencia Amid Storm

Firefighters in Valencia rescued a mother and her baby trapped in a home due to severe weather. A total of 20 individuals were saved in the ongoing rescue efforts.


The firefighters of the Provincial Consortium of Firefighters of Alicante carried out a helicopter rescue to save a one-year-old baby and their mother who were trapped in an isolated house in Riola, Valencia. In total, they managed to rescue 20 people in a situation of danger or isolation after conducting four reconnaissance flights in the area of l'Albufera and in municipalities such as Paiporta and Torrent, according to a statement from the Consortium.

Among the rescue efforts carried out by the Alicante firefighters in the areas affected by heavy rains and winds in the province of Valencia, the mobilization of four heavy rural pumps (BRP) and 12 firefighters from the parks of Dénia, Benidorm, Cocentaina, and Elda is highlighted. In addition to an Alpha 01 helicopter and a rescue group, which were in the region since Wednesday morning to reinforce aid tasks.

Regarding the current situation, the fire department has communicated that, for now, the incorporation of the rescue helicopter is not planned, but they remain on standby in case they need to add it to the rescue operations. Additionally, it was noted that this Thursday at 06:00 a.m., the search and rescue dog unit from the Consortium departed for Valencia.
