On this Thursday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, Jose Manuel Albares, rejected the proposal of Israeli Minister Yair Lapid to have Spain accept Palestinians in case of their eviction from the Gaza Strip. Jose Manuel Albares stated that Spain does not plan to play such a role in the conflict. According to him, the country should not intervene on either side of the conflict and should not take on obligations that cannot be fulfilled. In turn, Yair Lapid proposed that Spain provide humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in case of their evacuation. He drew attention to the fact that the Gaza Strip has become a source of tension and poses a threat both for Israel and for other countries in the region. 'Spain should accept part of the responsibility for this process,' Lapid said, expressing hope for an understanding from the Spanish authorities. Although both ministers acknowledged the need to find a solution for the crisis in Gaza, their viewpoints on how this should be done turned out to be opposing.
