The police arrested Eduardo "El Ruso" Lorhmann today in Spain, who had been wanted by justice since September 7 of last year when he escaped from the Vale de Judeus prison in Portugal. Lorhmann is accused of the kidnapping of Cristian Schaerer in 2003.
The arrest took place in the city of Valencia, where the fugitive was hiding. Spanish authorities carried out the arrest operation in collaboration with Interpol and the Portuguese police.
"We are pleased to have captured this individual who has been evading justice for so long. This arrest is the result of close international cooperation," said the police spokesperson.
The capture of "El Ruso" Lorhmann ends a long search that has lasted over 18 years. Authorities will now work on his extradition to Portugal, where he will face the pending charges against him.
