Julio Iglesias demands copy of sexual assault complaint

Singer Julio Iglesias has expressed his anger and asked the Prosecutor's Office of the National Court in Spain to provide him with a copy of the complaint filed against him for alleged sexual assault against two former domestic employees. He claims it is "inconceivable" that he, as the only interested party, is not familiar with the document. In a statement seen by European agencies, Iglesias' representatives argue that it is a "paradox that the only interested party who does not know it is the artist", something "inconceivable" under the Spanish "constitutional legal system". This new demand comes after the Prosecutor's Office stated that it is not appropriate to grant Iglesias's request to be admitted to the pre-procedural investigation, as requested by the singer's lawyer. However, the singer's defense believes that he should be allowed to participate "to clarify the lack of jurisdiction of the National Court". According to the investigation, one of the former employees claims she was pressured to have sexual encounters with the artist and speaks of penetrations, slaps, and physical and verbal abuse. "I felt like an object, like a slave," adds another woman. These incidents apparently involved two of the interviewed women in 2021, when the younger one was 22 years old.
