Julio Iglesias publishes private messages to defend his innocence

Spanish singer Julio Iglesias has published on his Instagram profile several messages he allegedly received from the employees who have accused him of sexual assault, which he seems to want to use to demonstrate his innocence. 'The evidence is clear: the WhatsApp communications sent by the complainants during the time they worked in my house and the communications after they left, demonstrate that the information disseminated lacks veracity,' the singer states in a statement he includes in his profile along with screenshots of these messages. Iglesias's publications come after the Spanish National Court Prosecutor's Office has, for the moment, rejected the request from Julio Iglesias's lawyer to be admitted to the investigation against him, in order to have direct access to the content of the complaint for alleged sexual crimes being investigated in Spain. 'Instagram is the 'only medium' that allows me to legitimately exercise my right to defense and 'to leave a record of the absolute falsity of the facts denounced,' says Iglesias. In one of the messages from April 20, 2021, which he attributes to his employees, it reads: 'Good night, professor. I hope you can sleep without discomfort, dream of little angels and be able to rest, I love you very much and if you need anything from me, I am here at your entire disposal, thank you for your patience and your teachings of today, every day by your side is valuable to me because I learn a little more.' In his statement, Iglesias also included other messages where the employees wished him health, said they remembered him, and wished him a happy birthday. The Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating a complaint against the singer for a presumed sexual assault and aggression on two employees in the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas in 2021. The employees have provided the court with labor documents, photographs, recordings, WhatsApp messages, and call logs to demonstrate the veracity of their accusations, which include sexual assaults, humiliations, and systematic labor abuse.
