In today's reading, Jesus urges us to be able to discern for ourselves what is right. He reminds us that we live in a world that, despite having its dose of evil, is still a divine creation. Saint John of the Cross invites us to contemplate the beauty that God has infused into the earth we walk on.
It is important to be attentive to the changes that occur in each era, as they allow us to better understand the world we live in. He urges us to learn about the hopes, aspirations, and challenges of our society. History shows us the lost opportunities of the Church for not knowing how to interpret the times in which it lived.
Jesus calls us not to lose sight of the signs of the present moment. He urges us not to be like those who did not recognize the arrival of the Son of God in their time. It is vital to learn to interpret and value the current context, just as Saint Teresa of Calcutta encourages us to do by clearly grasping the signs of her era.
In the Gospel, Jesus invites us to observe the signs of the times, for just as we know how to interpret the weather, we must understand the reality that surrounds us. It is essential not to let pass the opportunities that are presented to us and to be aware of the importance of understanding and acting according to the times we live in.
Today, with a clear and radiant sky after several days of heavy rain, we remember the importance of keeping our gaze upwards without losing sight of our earthly reality. Let us not be like those who, due to lack of discernment, failed to recognize the divine presence in their time.
Vatican II urges us to scrutinize the signs of the times and interpret them in the light of the Gospel. It motivates us to be sensitive to the needs of our environment and to respond with wisdom and love. Let us remember that, as Jesus points out, it is fundamental to know how to discern what is right in every situation.
