Survey on the PP's Opposition and the Economy in Spain

A survey reveals that 42% of PSOE voters want a less harsh opposition from the PP, while housing access and the economy are the main concerns in Spain.

A survey conducted by GAD3 for ABC reveals that the majority of PSOE voters believe that the Popular Party should adopt a less forceful opposition attitude, with 42% of respondents expressing this opinion. However, among Sánchez's voters, a quarter of them, 26%, call for the popular leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to be more severe in his criticisms.

On the other hand, the results are similar among Sumar voters, where 48% favor a less aggressive opposition and 22% request greater toughness. The survey also inquired about the main concerns of Spanish citizens, finding that the second most relevant problem is the economic situation, at 30%, followed by political issues in general, at 28%. Housing access ranks first with 38% mentions, a topic that both the Government and the Popular Party have proposed solutions for, and which is also being addressed by the European Commission in this new legislature.

Regarding Popular Party voters, 75% who participated in the July 2023 elections believe that Alberto Núñez Feijóo's opposition work should be more vigorous. The data revealed by the survey is consistent when polling Vox voters, with 77% in favor of a firmer opposition, 16% believing it should be the same, and 2% calling for a more moderate stance. On the other hand, positions on the left vary in the opposite direction, but in a less radical manner.

These results were obtained from a sample of 1,018 interviews conducted both online, by mobile and landline, with a sampling error margin of 3.1%. The fieldwork was carried out from October 21 to 24, 2024, using quotas of sex, age, and geographic location to ensure appropriate representation of the general population over 18 years old with voting rights.
