On Tuesday, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Spain announced that the contract for the purchase of firearms from an Israeli company was canceled. The reason for the cancellation was that the company from Israel indicated a non-compliance with the terms of the contract.
"The contract was canceled because we confirmed the fact that the company did not fulfill its contractual obligations. This will allow us to proceed to new negotiations with another supplier," the Ministry reported.
Officials from the ministry added that the cancellation of the contract with a foreign supplier would not leave the Spanish police without self-defense means.
"We are, by prior arrangement, operational and ready to fulfill our obligations, regardless of this incident," the officials emphasized in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
