Pedro Sánchez Defends Wife Amid New Allegations

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, spoke out about the new indictment against his wife, Begoña Gómez, made by Judge Juan Carlos Peinado. During a press conference in Bombay, where he is on a visit to India, Sánchez stated that he is increasingly convinced that time will clarify the situation, since 'where there is nothing, nothing can be extracted.' The indictment relates to alleged misappropriation and intrusion in the hiring of software for the master's program he co-directed at the Complutense University.

The head of the Executive emphasized that all the accusations against his wife come from far-right organizations and reiterated his trust that time will demonstrate the truth. The new indictment was announced while Begoña Gómez accompanied her husband in Bombay, where both participated in various activities. During the trip, Begoña Gómez also had a private agenda that included meetings with Spanish NGOs and visits to local institutions.

President Sánchez expressed his confidence in the rule of law and justice after almost a year dealing with this issue, showing his complete calm regarding the situation. The date of the judicial citation for Begoña Gómez will coincide with the G20 leaders' summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, although it has not been confirmed whether the president will attend the meeting. Sánchez concluded by forecasting that time will prove his wife's innocence and criticized far-right organizations for making false accusations.
