Political Controversy in Spain Over Session Suspension

The PSOE party suspended a control session citing victims as an excuse while critiquing their own members. The political landscape shows a struggle for power and ethics with ongoing tensions among parties.

The PSOE suspended its press conference under the pretext of the victims, while at the same time placing one of their own on the board of the Spanish public television. The party spokesperson did not hesitate to criticize her colleagues for hypocritically using the deceased as an excuse to avoid answering uncomfortable situations, such as the case of the president's wife being implicated or the presence of the UCO in the attorney general's office.

On one hand, it was decided to suspend the control session that was generating discomfort, but on the other hand, the full session continued where appointments in the public television were discussed. The Parliament of Andalusia also did not escape criticism, and the PP entered the controversy instead of staying on the sidelines. The actions of politicians have generated discomfort among citizens, who not only ask not to be used as an excuse but also to not be embarrassed by inappropriate behaviors.

The government argued that there were reasons to suspend the control session, but not the full session that subsequently took place to fill positions in public television, with representatives of the PSOE and their allies occupying places on the Council. The lack of ethics and dignity by politicians has been evident this week, covering with the mud of their actions the consequences of disasters like the recent tragedy.

In the midst of the crisis, what happened in Congress partially overshadowed what occurred in the Parliament of Andalusia, where a minute of silence was agreed in honor of the victims. The political reactions have been criticized for seeking gains or confrontation at a dramatic moment for the country, instead of acting with sensitivity and respect towards those affected.
