Testimonies in Koldo Case Set for December

The commander of the Civil Guard Information Unit Rubén Villalba, charged in the Koldo case under suspicion of being on the payroll of the plot, has paid the bail of 88,119 euros that the judge imposed on him last week and that he had to deposit in court within five days, or else all his and his wife's accounts would be seized. This is stated in a resolution accessed by ABC, in which 'the requirement is considered fulfilled' established by an order from November 8.

Investigators presume that Villalba and Aldama met in 2019 and that the broker used his associates Ignacio Díaz Tapia, Javier Serrano, and César Moreno 'for the execution of multiple tasks; among them, the management, location, and delivery of amounts of cash' to this Civil Guard commander. These payments are believed to have started in 2021 because, according to the UCO, 'there is a correlation between the messages sent by the investigated parties via WhatsApp regarding the payments and the cash or transfer deposits in the bank accounts made by Rubén Villalba.'

Specifically, Aldama's partners have been summoned to testify as investigated parties on November 25 and 26. They will appear as witnesses on December 2 and 3 at the National Court. The bail calculation follows reports from the Central Operative Unit of the Civil Guard, which, after gathering evidence that Villalba could be receiving from broker Víctor de Aldama amounts of 2,000 euros a month to provide services such as secure phone lines or additional information from police databases, cross-referenced the movements of his bank accounts and found more than 88,000 euros in cash income without apparent justification.

He even traveled with Díaz Tapia from Venezuela to Madrid, and at the airport, he was picked up by a car from one of the companies linked to the broker, and then they met with Koldo García at La Chalana. According to the investigation, they had a 'direct and personal relationship' with the commander. The commander's boss, a colonel with a distinguished career in the fight against terrorism, and several of his subordinates may shed more light on him.
