Empowering Women in Technology at AEPA Congress

The AEPA Congress in Alicante gathered experts to discuss AI, sustainability, and healthcare technology, emphasizing the importance of women's role in tech innovation.


The second Congress Women and Technology AEPA-Valencian Community took place on Friday, February 14, at the Auditorium of the Diputación de Alicante. Gathering more than 200 participants in person and another 100 virtually, the event featured prominent figures from the technology sector.

The day was inaugurated with the presence of Juan José Cortés, general director of Innovation of the Generalitat Valenciana; Esther Guilabert Bordonado, general secretary of the CEV; Mari Carmen de España, councilor for Employment and Promotion; and Marcela Fernández Losada, president of AEPA. The congress focused on the application of technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, metaverse, nanotechnology, robotics, and big data in strategic areas like health, well-being, sustainability, tourism, and entrepreneurship.

During the day, conferences, debates, and round tables were held on various topics. A highlight was the participation of Manuel Bonilla, corporate director of Innovation at SHA & AB Living Group and president of Encuentros Now, who emphasized the importance of aligning all innovation in a company with its vision, mission, and values, serving as support for professionals.

In another round table, Victoria Gómez, leader of Artificial Intelligence for IBM Spain, Portugal, Greece, and Israel, highlighted the potential of artificial intelligence in developing innovative solutions for the health and beauty sector. Gómez emphasized the collaboration between IBM and L’Oréal to create an artificial intelligence model focused on sustainable cosmetics.

Other speakers, such as Esther Roure, solutions architect for Sustainable Digital Transformation, and Dulcinea Mejide, director of sustainability and diversity and inclusion at Veolia Spain, addressed the importance of sustainability in technological development and the need to promote the presence of women in sectors such as science and technology.

Regarding the participating startups, innovative solutions were presented in areas such as neurotechnology, sustainability management in events, and optimization of sports performance. Notable were the proposals from TECYSS Hispania, EVOLVING THERAPEUTICS, and NEWMAN BRAIN, which emphasized the use of artificial intelligence and other advanced technologies in their projects.

The event also featured participation from startups from Scientific Parks of Universities and accelerators, such as Lanzadera of the Juan Roig Group. Companies like TECYSS Hispania and BLUEASE showcased their solutions based on cutting-edge technology.

In summary, the Congress Women and Technology AEPA-Valencian Community was a space for the exchange of ideas, synergies, and collaborations among professionals in the technology sector, highlighting the importance of innovation and sustainability in today's society.
