The City Council of Córdoba is underway with a project to restore the tile benches in the Gardens of the Ducks. In addition, a comprehensive action in the park is planned, which includes cleaning the monument to Julio Romero de Torres, replacing streetlights, and restoring the damaged pavement.
Regarding this project, a member of the governing team of Capitulares has mentioned that "it is going very well." Although the intervention was presented a year ago, the process has not fully started. The Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage had to evaluate the tiles to proceed with their restoration.
The planned investment in the gardens is around 250,000 euros. Although there is no defined timeline for the intervention, it is expected to take place in two phases: improving the green area and restoring the bench tiles, which date back to the 1920s and are in poor condition.
To carry out the recovery of the benches, an agreement must be signed with the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage. The Infrastructure Councillor, Miguel Ruiz Madruga, has mentioned the importance of carrying out both actions simultaneously. The project to intervene in the rest of the park is already drafted.
It is expected that the restoration of the tiles will be done manually on the benches themselves. Although these elements did not have previous protection, it is considered necessary to give them special treatment due to their history. The total cost of the action in the Gardens of Agriculture is estimated at around 250,000 euros.
Although a date has been set for the restoration of the Pergola in the first half of 2026, the Gardens of Agriculture still do not have a specific start date for the works. It is estimated that the duration of the intervention will likely exceed six months. The exact cost of restoring the benches has not yet been determined, as they are awaiting the evaluation from the Andalusian Institute of Historical Heritage.
