Córdoba Provincial Budget Preparation Underway

Salvador Fuentes, president of Córdoba's Provincial Council, is drafting the 2025 budgets and fiscal ordinances, aiming to negotiate with political groups in November.

The president of the Córdoba Provincial Council, Salvador Fuentes (PP), is actively working on drafting the budgets for the provincial institution and the fiscal ordinances for the upcoming year. His intention is to have them ready before November to begin negotiations with the various political groups throughout that month.

On the other hand, the Córdoba City Council, led by José María Bellido, has the most advanced work and plans to bring the initial text approval to the Local Government Board imminently, and then continue with the usual processing to present it to the Plenary before the end of the year and have it in effect for 2025.

Water improvement projects are expected to take a prominent place in the upcoming budgets of the Provincial Council, providing financial continuity to a plan of 32.8 million for such infrastructures and for waste collection and treatment approved at the beginning of October.

The governing team in the Provincial Council emphasizes that these budgets are the most social in the history of the institution, reaching 93.2 million euros. However, it remains to be seen if they can be approved before the end of the year so that they are active at the start of the new fiscal year.

The president of the Provincial Council has stated that social spending is one of the priorities of the budget, with an amount of 302.6 million euros, the highest to date. Despite this, the document faces criticism from parties like Vox, which believes it overlooks important allocations for social services, dependency care, and other aspects.

The Popular Party is in a position to negotiate with several parties to move the budgets forward. In the previous fiscal year, despite governing with a simple minority, they managed to approve the accounts of the provincial institution thanks to the abstention of the PSOE.
