A concert titled 'Rocío, light of life' served as a tribute to doctors and healthcare workers who died from the Covid-19 pandemic. The event was part of the blessing ceremony for a chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Rocío at the hospital of the same name in Seville, organized by the Matrix Brotherhood of Almonte. The Seville Municipal Symphonic Band, conducted by Francisco Javier Gutiérrez Juan, performed an extensive program, featuring the world premiere of the score 'Rocío, light of life' by Andalusian composer Juan Antonio Pérez. The evening also included an organ prelude by Miguel Ángel García at the collegiate church. Hosted by journalist and ABC collaborator José Manuel Peña, the event featured a lineup of guests, including Alberto García Reyes, Director of ABC Seville, and renowned artists such as Ana de Caro, Cantores de Híspalis, Gustavo Pedrero, Joana Jiménez, Luis Santana, Manuel Berraquero, and Raúl and Tino Cabello. In one of the most emotional moments of the night, all artists joined together to sing the famous 'Salve del Olé'. The events will culminate this Friday, November 7th, at 6:00 PM with a thanksgiving mass at the Parish of Corpus Christi, officiated by the Archbishop of Seville, Monsignor José Ángel Saiz Meneses, and presided over by the simpecado of Almonte. After the mass, a procession with the simpecado, accompanied by the municipal band of Carrión de los Céspedes, will head to the Virgen del Rocío hospital chapel for the archbishop's blessing. The chapel, funded by the Royal and Illustrious Official College of Physicians of Seville, will feature a statue of the White Dove by sculptor Manuel Caliani and will be open to the public on Saturday and Sunday. During the concert, popular pieces such as the 'salve' of the Romeros de la Puebla and the centennial coronation hymn were also performed.
