A prisoner from the Mas d'Enric prison (Tarragona) escaped on Thursday morning during a scheduled outing to a therapeutic center, according to penitentiary sources reported to ABC. The escape occurred while the inmate was accompanied by a social worker and a psychologist from the center for a visit. It is believed that the inmate requested permission to leave the facility to smoke and took the opportunity to escape.
The fugitive was serving a twelve-year sentence for robbery and was scheduled to be released on November 9, 2029.
According to penitentiary authorities: "The fugitive was in custody at the therapeutic center when he escaped. Investigations are currently underway to clarify the facts and proceed with his capture as soon as possible."
