
14 presumed drug traffickers, mostly of Mexican origin, were arrested in Spain, accused of kidnapping and murdering an Italian man, an alleged member of their organization, as well as being involved in drug trafficking and money laundering. The operation took place in various locations in the province of Barcelona, in northeastern Spain.
Among the detainees are 11 men and 3 women aged between 30 and 70 years, including the alleged leader of the organization responsible for the kidnapping and murder of the victim, whose body was found in a forest in Tarragona in August. Most of the suspects are Mexican nationals and are charged with crimes such as international drug trafficking, money laundering, kidnapping, and murder.
During the searches conducted at five homes and a restaurant in Catalonia, police discovered a laboratory for the production of methamphetamines impregnated in solid objects, as well as ready-to-consume drugs, a considerable amount of ecstasy, a marijuana plantation, firearms, technological equipment, and cash. The investigation was carried out jointly by the National Police and the Mossos d'Esquadra, the Catalan regional police.
