The Day of the Bookstores will be commemorated this Friday, November 15, by the reading club 'La Higuera' and La Madriguera de Papel in a special event featuring the author Yolanda Morató and her work 'Libres y Libreras: Mujeres del libro en Londres' (El Paseo Editorial). The selection of Morató as a guest for this meeting, organized by the reading club 'La Higuera' and La Madriguera de Papel, highlights the importance of bookstores in promoting culture.
Yolanda Morató, born in Huelva in 1976, is a Spanish philologist, translator, poet, and bibliophile, as well as an associate professor in the Department of English Philology (English Language) at the University of Seville. In her work, Morató narrates the story of the female booksellers of London, highlighting them as pioneers in the cultural industry related to the world of books and bookstores. The event will take place at 7:00 PM at the headquarters of La Madriguera de Papel, located at 6 Madroño Avenue, in the Valparaíso urbanization.
In Yolanda Morató's words about her research: 'The female booksellers of London, the pioneers, launched the first bookstores that embarked on a new way of creating culture, enabling many women to find a dignified place of work. I wanted to study how these women became examples of resistance, autonomy, and creativity in the cultural book industry.'
