We are talking about a venue that is a heritage for all Valencians and could not remain in the state it was in, authorities have stated. In turn, Reme Mazzolari expressed that «this project is in line with the priority of all our interventions, which is the increase in people's safety», and announced that «the improvements at the Plaza de Toros do not end with this work, as 1.5 million euros will be allocated for new interventions that will not require the closure of the facility, as they will be sectoral works».
Evolution of the works In the corridors, vents, and stairs of the venue, all old fluorescent lighting equipment, which consumed a lot of energy and offered little power, has already been replaced by new high-efficiency LED equipment. In this way, the planned deadlines are being met to achieve the priority objective, which is to reopen the venue, property of the Valencia Provincial Council, before the 2026 Fallas Fair.
This was confirmed this Friday when the president of the Provincial Council, Vicent Mompó, and the second vice president and deputy for Technical Projects, Reme Mazzolari, were able to firsthand check the status of works that have meant an investment of almost one million euros, and that will modernize one of the most emblematic cultural spaces of Cap i Casal. The new lighting installation will enhance the heritage value of the Plaza de Toros thanks to state-of-the-art LED lighting equipment, also achieving significant energy savings, according to the provincial corporation in a statement.
The president of the Valencia Provincial Council, Vicent Mompó, has shown his satisfaction with the «good progress» of the works, «which will allow the planned deadlines to be met and will serve to improve safety and to bring light to a plaza that was too dark». The works for the comprehensive renovation of the lighting system of the Valencia Bullring, which began last June, are currently 90% complete, so they continue to advance according to the initial approach. This system will be monitored 24 hours a day from the Provincial Emergency Coordination Center, thus reinforcing prevention and response to any eventuality. Finally, the painting work on the ceiling of the 2nd floor is being completed, where an intervention has been carried out with the replacement of the cane false ceiling with plasterboard panels, the recovery of original architectural elements, and the elimination of visible electrical installations.
The new fire detection system installation has also been completed, and now only its commissioning is missing. This improvement will meet the required standards for high-definition television broadcasting, while reinforcing the safety and comfort of attendees. Currently, Philips is conducting the switch-on tests, programming of levels, and the rigging of the projectors. With this, in addition to increasing the safety of attendees, a «dual objective» is achieved: «it will allow the evacuation of the building with adequate lighting levels and will enhance the heritage value of the building's ornamental elements». In addition, the replacement of the metal ring projectors with high-tech LED projectors, which have five predetermined light levels, has been completed.
