The city council has contacted all circuses in the city to suspend their performances this Sunday for both morning and afternoon sessions. The Association of Traders of the Historic Center will also close the ice rink, merry-go-round, and Ferris wheel in the Plaza de San Agustín from this Saturday at 10:00 PM and suspend Sunday's activities. In parallel, the city council has communicated to the Fair installed in the Port the recommendation to suspend activities from 10:00 PM on Saturday and cancel them for the Sunday, December 14. The council has also announced that it is adopting these same measures for the circus installed in the Port. Furthermore, all open-air municipal activities planned for the Christmas festivities and those organized by the Junta Central Fallera have been suspended. An orange alert will be in effect from midnight. Therefore, the Valencia City Council has announced that it will close parks, gardens, and cemeteries, and suspend all open-air activities authorized on public property. On the other hand, the concert at the Palau de la Música and extraordinary activities organized by the City Council for Christmas in the city's neighborhoods and districts have been canceled. The CAES (Emergency Accommodation Centers) for homeless people in the city will remain open all day. The Cecopal has also decided to suspend the Rastro (flea market), Plaza Redonda, and extraordinary markets. Following the same line, the Local Police will reinforce surveillance in areas of leisure establishments on the seafront to prevent crowds. For the same reason, the job entry exams for the EMT (Public Transport Company) at the Polytechnic University have been canceled, and the City Council has sent a letter to La Liga and the general director of Valencia Basket to request the suspension of the Levante UD and Valencia Basket matches. The council advises avoiding non-essential travel and driving only if necessary; staying in a safe place, such as near rivers or ravines; having an emergency kit ready; avoiding ground floors and garages; moving to higher ground and securing essential items; and staying informed about the evolution of alerts through official channels. The Fire Consortium reinforces its device In response to the rain alert, the Valencia Fire Consortium has activated its Reinforcement Procedure for Adverse Weather Situations for this Sunday. As detailed by the Consortium in a statement on Saturday, its teams have been reinforced to deal with any situation that may arise from this event. Following the recommendations of the Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Center, the Valencia Museum of Fine Arts, the Centre del Carmen, and the IVAM will remain closed this Sunday. The IVC, for its part, has suspended its scenic activity scheduled at the Teatro Rialto and the Teatro Principal, as well as the two film sessions at the Filmoteca. Specifically, the circus show "Teneten" at the Teatro Principal de Valencia and the dramatic reading "La platja dels alemanys" from the Insula Dramataria Josep Lluís Sirera cycle, scheduled at the Teatro Rialto, have been canceled. At Les Arts, the Manolo García concert for this Sunday has also been postponed. Furthermore, the Valenciana Nicolau Primitiu Library will close the Monastery of San Miguel de los Reyes and the Sagunto Monumental Complex this Sunday. Similarly, municipal museums, theaters, libraries, and tourist offices will remain closed. The Generalitat Valenciana's Emergency Coordination Center has activated a red alert for rain for this Sunday, December 14, from 12:00 PM on the north and south coast of Valencia, due to the arrival of storm Emilia, a meteorological system coming from North Africa. Access to the Jardín del Turia has been closed, and control has been reinforced on the Paseo Marítimo, city beaches, Pinedo, and Saler, as well as in the Devesa forest. Thus, on a normal day, there would be about 175 firefighters and BRIFO brigade members, but for this Sunday, this number will reach 245 with the reinforcement of one additional fire team per main park, four BRIFO units, the activation of volunteer firefighters, and more personnel in the Communications and Control Center and command scale. The Generalitat suspends cultural activities Bodies dependent on the Department of Education, Culture, and Universities have also suspended cultural activities scheduled for this Sunday due to the red and orange alert levels in the Valencian Community. This measure also avoids the movement of maintenance, cleaning, and security personnel for these venues. Likewise, as a consequence of the meteorological alert, the recitals scheduled at the Centre de Perfeccionament (Matins a Les Arts) and by soprano Angel Blue (Les Arts ès Lied) have been postponed. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) forecasts rains that "can be persistent, locally torrential and exceed the threshold of 180 l/m2 in 12 hours".
