Spanish football is in mourning for the tragic death of José Castillejo, a player from the Valencia CF academy and from several teams in the Valencian Community, at the age of 28. Castillejo lost his life as one of the fatalities of the Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) that struck the province, causing devastation in its wake.

The DANA, known for its destructive effects, brought torrential rains and hurricane-force winds that caused significant flooding in Valencia, leaving many families in despair. This time, the fury of the storm took the life of a young man with sports aspirations.

Valencia CF expressed its sorrow over Castillejo's loss through an emotional statement highlighting the footballer's legacy at the blue and crimson club. According to the region's emergency services, the provisional death toll due to the DANA has risen to 155 people, affecting areas of Castilla-La Mancha and Andalucía.
