Castilla and León Will Appeal to the Constitutional Court

The president of Castilla and León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has announced that he will appeal to the Constitutional Court if the debt forgiveness is approved, stating that it is unfair and disloyal.

The president of the Board of Castilla y León, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, has expressed his rejection of the possible cancellation of debt by the Congress of Deputies, calling this measure unjust and disloyal. According to Mañueco, this cancellation promotes a culture of financial irresponsibility by not encouraging the payment of debts and favoring a single political force to the detriment of the autonomies.

In a meeting in Valladolid with the Direction Council of the Popular Parliamentary Group in the Senate, Mañueco announced the intention to appeal to the Constitutional Court if this cancellation is approved, arguing that it goes against the Constitution and the equality of all Spaniards. He considers that President Sánchez's pact with the separatists is immoral, unjust, and disloyal, especially because it would benefit those who generated the debt.

The Castilian and Leonese president emphasized the need to discuss a new regional financing model instead of opting for debt cancellation, stating that the current system is outdated and insufficient. In his opinion, this measure only benefits those who have acted irresponsibly in financial matters, harming those who have fulfilled their financial obligations.

Mañueco also criticized the lack of debate on this issue in the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy, considering that it is an agreement between the Government and the separatists that does not solve financial problems fairly. In his view, debt cancellation does not represent savings for the autonomous communities, but instead translates into the payment of the waste generated by some political sectors.
