A major supermarket in Spain offers a significant price reduction on Carbonell olive oil. Previously €29.99, the new price is €21.95, a rare deal amid rising costs.

Significant Olive Oil Price Reduction in Supermarket

In recent years, the price of olive oil has been a cause of concern, as it has experienced a constant increase. This has led to it becoming an almost luxury item for many families, generating a search for deals and promotions on this product.

A supermarket chain in Spain has surprised consumers by applying a significant discount on a popular brand of olive oil. This is the Carbonell smooth olive oil 5-liter bottle, which used to cost 29.99 euros, but is now available for 21.95 euros, which is equivalent to 4.39 euros per liter. This offer is available both in physical stores and on the supermarket's website, until stocks last, and does not require any type of subscription or special conditions.

Although a decrease in the price of olive oil was registered at the end of 2024, there has been a slight increase at the beginning of 2025 due to the reintroduction of VAT on basic foods. Gonzalo Guillén, general director of Acesur, has indicated that a possible stabilization in prices is expected by April or May 2025, ranging between 4 and 5 euros per liter, as long as weather conditions are favorable and production normalizes.

The lack of rainfall during the spring of 2023, one of the driest in decades, severely affected the harvest in Spain, the world's leading producer of olive oil. Although it is not extra virgin oil, Carbonell smooth oil remains a healthy option in the kitchen, as it is a blend of refined oils and virgin olive oils, providing a mild flavor. Factors such as prolonged drought, rising production costs, and global inflation have directly impacted the sector.
