Prices on the shelves are falling and this trend is expected to continue due to an increased supply of oil in the market. Deoleo has increased its market share in Spain, reaching 10.5% at the end of 2024. The company expects this year's production to be sufficient to keep prices at lower levels, in contrast to the high 9 euros per liter that oil reached in supermarkets.
The situation has changed since last year's discount strategies, and currently the sector is experiencing a positive moment thanks to abundant rains that have favored production. The Carbonell brand has achieved good penetration in Spanish households, reaching 20%. Production has increased due to rainfall.
However, there are challenges for the sector, such as the possibility of new tariffs in the United States under the administration of Donald Trump. Deoleo is optimistic that current trade agreements will be maintained. The company has seen its market share grow in both olive oil and seed oil in Spain and the United States, where 95% of the oil consumed is imported, and product penetration has increased by 45%.
The price of olive oil continues to decrease and it could stabilize at 3 or 4 euros per liter, according to Deoleo's forecasts. Víctor Roig, general director of Deoleo in Spain, highlights that this situation will positively impact the consumer, who will be able to benefit from more affordable prices.
