During the labor reform of the year 2023 in Spain, reforms were approved that will significantly impact the unemployed population. Although the modifications were approved last year, their implementation will be progressive, marking a before and after in the conditions for receiving unemployment benefits.
The new measures will come into effect in November, benefiting the unemployed with an increase in certain economic aid. From that date, full-time workers will be able to apply for this benefit, expanding the previous conditions where it was only available to part-time employees. However, there are a series of requirements that must be met to access this benefit.
Regarding the requirements to apply for the benefit, it is established that the maximum number of days that this aid can be received for each new job, whether part-time or full-time, is 180 days. Compatibility between receiving unemployment benefits and working simultaneously will not be allowed until April 1, 2025. Therefore, it is essential to meet the established conditions to access this subsidy.
It is important to mention that the regulations related to receiving unemployment benefits and working at the same time may undergo modifications, so it is recommended to stay informed through official sources, such as in the case of SEPE. The monthly income of the applicant cannot exceed 325% of the IPREM, which currently amounts to 600 euros, affecting the amount of the benefit received.
In summary, this change in regulations will generate a significant impact on the way unemployment benefits are perceived and how one works at the same time, maintaining the receipt of this aid but reducing it based on the income generated from the new job.
