Government Initiates Agricultural Machinery Improvement Plans

The Castilla-La Mancha Government announces a funding initiative for farmers to purchase energy-efficient agricultural machinery, enhancing competitiveness and sustainability.

The Government of Castilla-La Mancha has launched a call for improvement plans for the acquisition of agricultural machinery until December 2. This initiative aims to improve the energy efficiency of farms and promote the practice of ecorregimens.

According to the Director General of Rural Development, José Juan Fernández, this aid order has an initial allocation of ten million euros, expandable to 15, and allows farmers and ranchers to acquire equipment such as precision seeders, balers, tractors, among others, with subsidies of up to 65%.

The Minister of Agriculture, Julián Martínez Lizán, has expressed his commitment to support agricultural organizations in their applications, regarding possible changes in bureaucracy and the implementation of ecorregimens, as part of the mid-term review of the Strategic Plan of the CAP of Spain (PEPAC) in 2025.

The reminder about this call was made in Cardeñosa, where the agricultural operation of Ismael, a farmer benefiting from these aids, was visited. Thanks to the subsidy, he was able to acquire a hydraulic sprayer that allows him to reduce the use of phytosanitary products and fertilizers more efficiently, thus achieving savings in energy consumption.

Since 2016, the regional government has allocated a total of 342 million euros to adapt farms and machinery through 6,100 projects under the funds of the PDR 2014-2022, MRR funds, and the new PEPAC 2023-2027. This initiative is part of the interest in promoting the economic competitiveness and environmental sustainability of the agri-food sector in the region.
