The remains of a woman who disappeared nine years ago have been found in the yard of her neighbors. Since her disappearance, the entire town of Hornachos, with a population of 3,600 and located in Badajoz in southwestern Spain, joined the search along with authorities and rescue teams. However, it was only today that the remains were confirmed to be those of Francisca Cadenas. On Wednesday, the remains were found buried under the floor of the house of two brothers who have been detained in connection with the case. In May 2017, Francisca Cadenas, a 59-year-old Spanish woman, disappeared without a trace when she left her house just a few meters away and never returned. She left her house door open and told her son she would be right back. However, that never happened. After handing the little girl back to her parents, several witnesses saw Francisca heading towards a narrow passageway connecting her car with her house. They saw her go in, but no one saw her come out. After some time, when her son realized Francisca was not returning, he grew worried and began searching the area without success. For years, searches were conducted at various points in the area and interviews were held with people who might know something about what happened, but nothing was found. The Civil Guard has confirmed that the skeletal remains found on Wednesday in a house in Hornachos (Badajoz) belong to Francisca Cadenas, the local woman who disappeared in 2017. The two brothers detained in connection with their neighbor's disappearance were met this morning with shouts of 'murderers, murderers'. The two brothers left their home heading to a property of theirs to continue with other searches.
