Ten people died as a result of a fire that broke out in a nursing home in the municipality of Viafrán de Liébana in northeastern Spain.
The fire erupted in the evening on Friday and quickly spread throughout the building where elderly people lived. Fire crews arrived at the scene and began extinguishing it, but they were unable to save the lives of ten people.
The mayor of the municipality stated that this tragic event claimed multiple lives and that the authorities provide all necessary support to the families of the deceased.
"Our hearts ache for these individuals, and we express our condolences and support to their families and loved ones," the mayor said.
An investigation is currently underway to clarify the causes of the outbreak and to precisely account for the deceased.
