Juan Duarte Cuadrado (Madrid, 1967) is a Spanish career diplomat. A law graduate from CEU San Pablo University, he joined the Diplomatic School in 1994, beginning his career in the foreign service. Among his main positions are: Deputy Consul in Paris; Deputy General Director of the Human Rights Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation; Head of the Programs and Cultural Agreements Area of the Secretariat of State for International Cooperation and for Ibero-America; Director of the Human Rights Office; Counselor for Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of Spain in Buenos Aires; Second Head of the Embassies of Spain in Addis Ababa and Bratislava; Counselor at the Embassy of Spain in Bogotá; and Counselor at the Embassy of Spain in London, where he was responsible for monitoring the Brexit process. From 2018 to 2022, he held the position of Director General for Spaniards Abroad and Consular Affairs. In August 2022, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Spain to the United Mexican States, a position he currently holds.
