Support for Bullfighting in Castilla-La Mancha

The Vice President of Castilla-La Mancha has pledged government support for bullfighting, emphasizing its cultural significance and economic impact in the region. He urged the Ministry to restore the National Bullfighting Award, highlighting the importance of this sector for local employment and culture.

The first vice president of the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha, José Luis Martínez Guijarro, has expressed the administration's support for the bullfighting sector, considering it a deeply rooted activity in the region. At an event in the Senate, Martínez Guijarro indicated the importance of supporting all artistic expressions, including bullfighting, and advocated for the recovery of an award for this field.

During the presentation of the National Bullfighting Award, granted to filmmaker Albert Serra and to the Breeders of Fighting Bulls, the vice president highlighted that Castilla-La Mancha is a leader in the dissemination of bullfighting content, through media such as Castilla-La Mancha Media and a specialized channel on this theme. He emphasized the economic relevance of bullfighting shows in the region, generating thousands of jobs linked to this activity.

Martínez Guijarro stressed that the region organizes the largest number of bullfighting events at the national level, which evidences the importance of the sector for the local economy. The award in question seeks to correct a decision by the Ministry of Culture that eliminated this award last year, considering it a political mistake that needs correction.
