Moreno Accuses PSOE of Lying About Privatization, Says PP is Ready for Elections

The President of the Junta of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, sharply criticized the Socialist Party, calling accusations of privatization 'the great lie.' He presented data on the growth of health and education budgets, highlighting his government's achievements and calling for an end to 'scaring society.'

The President of the Junta of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, stated that the People's Party (PP) is prepared to win any election. He accused opponents of spreading 'tons of lies' about a government that, he claims, has allocated the most public resources to families and invested the most in public services. 'It's enough to lie and manipulate,' he stressed. 'If you think you can deceive the people of Andalusia, you are clearly mistaken.' Moreno wanted to put an end to the mantra of privatization, calling it 'the great lie of the Socialist Party' (PSOE). He backed up his arguments with data and examples: the health budget, which was 9.8 billion euros, has been increased to over 16.2 billion for the next year. He called on his team to 'give their all, working with conviction to maintain this stability.' As for PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, Moreno stated that he will be the next Prime Minister 'with the push' from the people of Andalusia. 'This is progress, and that's enough of so many lies,' he added. 'How can you call a government that allocates funds for school canteens, buses, and a billion euros a privatizer?' he asked rhetorically. Moreno also presented data: the PP came to power in Andalusia when the region was last in public health spending, and now its figures are above the Spanish average. After winning an overwhelming 99.95% of the vote this Sunday, Juanma Moreno focused on his priority for the coming Monday: to revalidate his absolute majority in the upcoming regional elections and secure another term to 'continue transforming Andalusia.' In his final speech at Fibes, Moreno, who was accompanied by PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, Secretary General Miguel Tellado, and the entire party, as well as the President of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, made it clear that 'privatization is the great lie of the PSOE' and called on them to 'stop scaring people,' as the PP is 'transforming Andalusia.' In a sharp tone, Moreno stated that in Andalusia 'they continue with the same old story' of privatization, even though it is not true. He emphasized the sense of duty present in those responsible for governing, even citing councilors from small municipalities. 'We have achieved what seemed impossible: to become leaders,' he said, citing data on economic growth or the example of Andalusia being the second community with the lowest taxes. Moreno stated that the Andalusia of 2025 'has nothing to do with the Andalusia of 2018' because it is a respected, admired, and leadership-oriented community. 'Socialist governments break the equality and solidarity of all Spaniards,' Moreno said, accusing the socialist government of 'limiting' Andalusia's potential. He also emphasized the 'Andalusian way,' urging calm in the face of 'confrontation and data.' 'Always scaring society, I am going to make it clear that it is false,' he added. The President said the PP 'has known how to renew itself' and recalled all his predecessors as 'keepers of the torch' of the PP. In this line, he stressed that the central government 'mistreats the interests of an honest people like Andalusia.' But, thinking ahead to the upcoming regional elections, Juanma Moreno warned of a 'convergence of interests, a UTE (a temporary union)' of all opposition groups to cut off the change in Andalusia, which are 'the A-side and the B-side of the same record' that do not think the same but seek the same thing: to break the stability.' Juanma Moreno addressed the youth, women, and workers and asked for their support. The dependency agency had a budget of 1.26 billion euros, which has multiplied to 2.61 billion, and currently serves 47% more than the last year of socialist management. Furthermore, Moreno stated that he will not allow 'a handful of voters to drag the good reputation of our health and education systems through the mud.' During his speech, Moreno was accompanied by his entire family (his wife, his children, mother, his brothers, and his father-in-law). He became emotional while also remembering his late father and thanked for the 'tons of love' and 'overwhelming' support he had received. 'Now she forgets Andalusia, despises and betrays it,' he said in reference to María Jesús Montero. 'They are going to think we have rigged something,' he joked in reference to the crushing majority he achieved. At the very beginning of a very emotional speech, he recalled that it was also at Fibes where he received 'the most important commission' of his life twelve years ago, when he had the support to build an alternative government in Andalusia. In this sense, he referred to María Jesús Montero, the Vice President and PSOE candidate for the Junta, remembering that the same person who demanded 4,000 million from Rajoy now denies 1,500 million that corresponds each year. In education, the budget was 6,300 million and has been increased to exceed 9,300 despite the fact that there are 130,000 fewer children than in 2018. 'They said we were going to cut pensions and health. In fact, he admitted, although there is still a long way to go, much has been done with 'fewer resources' since Andalusia receives 1,500 million less each year than it is entitled to. 'These are principles that 'are going to be at stake.'
