The Secretary General of the Popular Party of the Valencian Community, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, expressed his sorrow over what he considers a lost opportunity by the Socialist Party of the Valencian Country-PSOE during its 15th Congress. Llorca criticized the lack of concrete proposals in favor of all citizens, including the Valencians, and pointed out that the only initiative mentioned was to control what the media says.
In statements, Llorca lamented the absence of self-criticism from the socialists and urged them to be more transparent about corruption cases affecting the party, also mentioning Francis Puig, brother of the former president of the Generalitat Ximo Puig, who allegedly received undue subsidies. In this regard, the PPCV leader apologized and advocated for not restricting press freedom.
On the other hand, Llorca criticized the lack of concrete proposals at the socialist congress regarding improving funding, helping those affected by flooding, or developing infrastructure in the Community. He considered the event as a mere act to ingratiate himself with President Pedro Sánchez, whom he accused of sidelining the Valencians.
In a direct criticism of the politicians present at the socialist congress, Llorca lamented the distance of figures such as Sánchez, PSPV-PSOE leader Diana Morant, and Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, from the real problems of the Valencian Community. He concluded by stating that the Valencians will continue to wait for a Popular Party government in Spain to resolve critical issues such as funding and the payment of aid to those affected by natural disasters.
